FAQs and Common Questions
Do I need to get approval from my building before I can remodel
In most cases yes, especially if you live in a cop-op, condo or multi-story apartment building. However there are exceptions, that is if you reside in a smaller building that is co-owned with a few tenants, you would let them know your plans before you proceed. In addition if you rent an apartment or house from an owner of the property get their approval first.
Is it better to hire a large renovation company to do my work?
If your project is small or medium size, it will be less expensive to hire a small firm. For example small firms like us will get the job done faster with less expense. That’s because large companies subcontract out and hire smaller firms to do their work. Essentially you are paying twice for the insurance and large companies usually markup anywhere from 50% – 100% for exactly the same work.
Is it important to hire a licensed electrician or plumber for my renovation?
Inasmuch as a good handyman can easily handle minor fixes it’s worth hiring a licensed electrician and/or plumber doing the work. Should any unfortunate accidents occur you will be on the hook for any and all damages. Using licensed professionals means that their insurance companies will pay for any damages.
